Alain Metayer

Originally a painter on Place du Tertre Alain changed to portraiture in 1971. This change was brought about by a desire for a more direct contact with the public and the possibility of finding more of himself, in his subjects. Portraiture lends itself to this contact and discovery which Alain sees as a factor in the creation of a portrait. This in spite of the limitations inherent in the imitation of a model posing. It is in going beyond this imitation, that a creation emerges. |
